THE Duke of Gloucester watches computer literacy training as he visits St George’s Primary School in Fishergate, York.
The duke, a first cousin of the Queen, talked to children and staff about their work, particularly focusing on reading. Rose Mazza, head teacher, said children in Year 5 and 6 took the opportunity to tap into the Duke’s interest in architecture by showing him their plans to develop the school wildlife area into an outdoor learning space.
“The Duke discussed the model of the area with the children and asked them about funding for the project and their priorities,” she said. “The children then took him on tour of the grounds to discuss how their plans could be realised.”
Before leaving, the Duke signed the school’s visitor book and was presented with a copy of a book on St George’s, written and published by the children.
