Heworth Golf Club is hosting a special York 800 Open Tournament on Saturday, June 30 – and are looking for entrants to help celebrate more than a century of golf at the course.
Teams of four are being encouraged to enter, at £50 per team. Golfers wishing to take part should phone Heworth GC professional Fraser Kelley on 01904 422389 to book their time for the day. Full details about the club can be found on www.heworthgolfclub.co.uk
Said Kelley: “I’m really looking forward to a great day’s golf to help celebrate York 800 in this special year for the city.
“We can offer a delightful course which itself has a long history of welcoming visitors while also offering a definite test for golfers of all abilities.”
Meanwhile, Captain’s Day at Heworth was won by Andy Wright after a helping hand from Kelley.
Ten-handicapper Andy Wright was the winner of after a special morning lesson from the Heworth professional.
Wright notched 41 points, one ahead of runner-up Simon Dwyer.
Said club captain Keith Orrell: “I was looking anxiously at the weather forecast all week but we were lucky to have a dry day with the course in tremendous condition considering all the rain we’d had. I think everyone had a great day.”
