A YORK Cat Trail has been relaunched to take residents and visitors through the city and discover the whereabouts of its 21 cat sculptures.
The lifelike cat sculptures first appeared in 1920 when Sir Stephen Aitcheson placed two of them on one of his buildings in Low Ousegate. In 1979, the idea was recreated by local architect Tom Adams, who placed them on buildings that he had designed.
The free tour, relaunched by The Cat Gallery, takes about two hours to complete and includes two new cats and a mini quiz for children with a cat themed reward. People can download it for free from www.thecatgallery.co.uk or a copy can be obtained from the shop at 45 Low Petergate.
