IN SEPTEMBER last year I wrote and had published a letter questioning the validity of the city council’s programme of road surfacing with chippings.
One sentence from my letter read as follows: “As far as I can see they are totally ineffective in protecting the road because already the old road surface has reappeared; in addition all the road markings have disappeared, which presumably means more expense and inconvenience in replacing them.”
Lo and behold today I received a hand-posted letter through my door advising me that the A1237 bypass road will receive a surface dressing in this area on June 27 and 28. So the previous attempt has lasted a total of nine months. Are we going to face this cost every nine months?
