AN East Yorkshire search and rescue team has been withdrawn from service because of a review over “personnel issues”.
The Withernsea team, which has ten members, will be back in operation once the review is completed, with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency admitting it was uncommon for such a crew to be stood down.
Coastguards from Hornsea and Easington will deal with emergency incidents in the meantime and the agency said the team’s withdrawal was a “temporary measure” which will not put public safety at risk.
