GROUPS across Selby have received a series of grants from the town council.
Each year, the council awards grants totalling £22,000 to local organisations, and this year mayor Wendy Nichols presented the cheques to groups including the Community Furniture Store, Coultish Centre Pensioners’ Club, and Selby District Vision.
Karen Mann, clerk to the Town Council, said: “This year the budget for the grants was £22,000 and the town council considered all applications on their own merits. The funding will benefit vulnerable, disabled, young and old people alike in Selby.”
Other recipients of this year’s grants included FLAG, Relate, DIAL, Selby District Citizen’s Advice Bureau, the Over 50s Forum, the Civic Society, Globe Cinema and Selby Abbey.
