A RACE forging closer links between schools has been run in North Yorkshire.
The “friendship relay race” drew in pupils from seven primary schools near Catterick Garrison as part of their Olympic celebrations, which will also include a concert involving all the schools.
It began in Catterick village at Michael Syddall Church of England Primary School and saw the runners pass through Colburn Community, Le Cateau, Hipswell Church of England and Carnagill Community Primary Schools and Wavell Infant and Junior Schools, with torches and messages of friendship being handed over along the route.
“The point of it was to celebrate the way all the schools which serve the wider Catterick and Colburn communities can work together,” said Le Cateau headteacher Grahame Shepherd,
