MY husband has suffered from Parkinson’s Disease for at least ten years.

It is a terrible disease with no cure, but it seems to miss out with publicity.

People who have Parkinson’s can only hope that the drugs that are available to control the symptoms will work for them.

The neurologists work very hard trying to find the best treatment for each individual, because every sufferer is affected differently. This makes Parkinson’s Disease difficult to diagnose and treat.

The common idea of Parkinson’s Disease is that it makes you shake; that is not the only symptom and not all sufferers shake.

One of the worst symptoms is freezing; freezing happens when the legs do not react when the person moves to go forward, it is just as though someone had stuck their feet to the floor, this results in a heavy fall, usually with the head hitting the floor.

Parkinson’s Disease affects all muscles in the body slowing everything down, focusing of the eye is affected, speech is often very quiet, making it difficult for sufferers joining in with conversation.

There is also a form of dementia that goes with Parkinson’s Disease.
