MEMBERS of the legendary Britpop band Ocean Colour Scene have been added to the musical line-up for this years Pocktoberfest, writes Amy Glover.

An acoustic set will be performed at the festival in Pocklington by band frontman Simon Fowler and drummer Oscar Harrison, with organisers saying their performance will be one of the highlights of the weekend-long event on October 27 and 28.

The band have had five Top Ten albums and six Top Ten singles since their career began in 1989.

Already confirmed to be performing at the festival are cult rockers Echo and the Bunnymen and the winners of the Glastonbury Festival Emerging Talent Award, Ellen And The Escapades.

The Guillemots are performing on the Sunday, as is local band Club Smith who recently returned to the area after touring with the Kaiser Chiefs.

Janet Farmer, Pocklington Arts Centre manager and the music programmer for the festival, said: “We are extremely pleased with the line-up for this year’s festival.”

For the first time since the annual event began in 2004, the festival is supporting the charity Help For Heroes, with the organisers hoping to raise as much as £5,000 for Phoenix House in Catterick, a residential centre for wounded service personnel.

The festival will also feature an assortment of traditional ale, lagers and ciders from across the country About 1,500 people are expected at this year’s festival and anyone interested in attending is advised to book early.
