THE parents of a North Yorkshire boy recovering from his second bone marrow transplant are organising an auction of promises to benefit families in the same position.
Kyle Spencer, seven, from Northallerton, underwent the procedure in February at Newcastle’s Great North Children’s Hospital, following two weeks of intensive chemotherapy.
Now Kyle is back home after having spent months in an infection-beating “bubble” – a clinically sealed bedroom – in the Tyneside hospital.
Northallerton’s Broomfield School, where Kyle is due to return in September, will hold the fundraising auction of promises early next term, with local auctioneer Mike Darwin wielding the gavel.
