THESE Chinese transport chiefs met their counterparts in York to swap ideas about how to keep cities on the move.
A 14-strong delegation, which was led by Peng Lui, the director of the general office of China’s Ministry of Transport, discussed York’s transport strategy and the city’s public transport plans when they met representatives from City of York Council and First, the company which operates York’s Park&Ride service.
Coun Dave Merrett, cabinet member for transport, planning and sustainability and part of the welcoming committee for the Chinese visitors, said: “It was great to be able to meet and pass on our expertise, while also having the opportunity to learn from each other’s experiences.
“We have one of the best Park&Ride services in the country in York, so it was fantastic to be able to show them that.”
