THE home town of Sadie Rose Clifford fell silent for one minute as a mark of respect after the two-year-old lost her 18-month struggle with cancer.

Traders and shoppers in Knaresborough’s market square observed the silence yesterday morning, after Sadie’s parents announced on Tuesday that their daughter had passed away quietly at home on Monday.

Meanwhile tributes continued to be made in on social networking site Facebook.

One wellwisher, Leah Oldfield, wrote: “Sleep tight Sadie Rose, such a beautiful brave little girl. My thoughts go out to her family and friends at this heartbreaking time. RIP sweetheart.”

Another, posted by Vicky Thompson said: “You have touched so many people’s lives, you brave beautiful girl. Thoughts go out to your family and friends.”

Sadie had been at the centre of a massive campaign to raise £500,000 for treatment in America.

The target was reached but when her family took Sadie over to the US, doctors delivered the devastating news that the tumours had spread to other parts of her body.
