A DAY of Egyptian-themed events is to be held at the University of York tomorrow as part of the York Festival Of Ideas.
Events include an Egyptian-themed workshop from students of Fulford School, and two public lectures which are open to all. The first lecture, by journalist Andrew Robinson, takes place at 6.15pm.
Mr Robinson will discuss his book Cracking The Egyptian Code, the first English biography of Jean-François Champollion, who deciphered Egyptian hieroglyphs.
A second lecture, by Dr Stephen Buckley and Dr Joann Fletcher, the scientists behind the recent Channel 4 documentary Mummifying Alan, will be held at 7.30pm, followed by a question and answer session.
Admission to both lectures, which will be staged at the Ron Cooke Hub, is by free ticket only, available from yorkfestivalofideas.com/tickets/
