STUDENTS of Selby College helped raise more than £200 for charity at the town’s annual fashion show.
The show, which was held at Selby Abbey last week, saw scores of spectators treated to a colourful display of handmade garments, including a series of creations made in only two hours, as part of the college’s skills tournament.
Other themes included dance and the city, mods and rockers, Land Girls and a special bridalwear display by sponsors Forevermore Bridalwear.
Kiku Jackson, fashion lecturer at the college, said the event was a great success: “It’s always really nice to see the students presenting their own creations at the end of the year.
“They work so hard to ensure that all the garments are of the highest standard and it’s lovely to see so many people from across the area, turn out to support them.
“The fashion show is a real team effort and we can’t forget all the staff and students who work tirelessly backstage and front of house to ensure the show is a huge success year after year. The college has a great reputation for success and we’re proud to be part of that story.”
The event was also sponsored by Owston Park Golf Course and Strawberry Fields Cafe, and featured live music from the Selby Acoustic Five, who are all music students at the college.
There was also a guest appearance from the Abbey Belles Ladies Barbershop Chorus.
As well as the fashion show, a charity raffle raised more than £200 for Cancer Research UK and the Make A Wish Foundation.
