A REGIONAL conference on child poverty was today being held in York.
Members of the Yorkshire and Humber Regional Child Poverty Network were due to hear from speakers and organisations on areas such as the Government’s stance on the issue, the impact of welfare reform and how schools can help poorer children.
Workshops are also being held at the event, hosted by City of York Council, whose director of adults, children and education, Pete Dwyer, said: “Our city has a rich history in understanding the impact of poverty in all its forms and recognises the benefits of the work which seeks to ensure children have the best possible start in life.”
