In Rio de Janeiro the Sustainability Conference finished without a significant result.
190 nations plus 50,000 representatives met over ten days. This caused huge amounts of pollution from the delegates the ‘hot air’ and by the thousands of miles travelled by air, sea and other forms of transport.
Each country had an agenda for its contribution towards the objective.
Many wanted financial assistance from the wealthier countries.
This country has made vigorous efforts in contributing towards “saving the planet”.
The taxpayer pays because Government grants subsidise all “green energy devices”, plus an extra tax on our energy bills toward the green energy development of the energy companies.
These sustainability efforts compared with the rest of the world are minor, especially when many others’ efforts are not much or nothing.
It seems that large amounts of our money being used for an unattainable target. Without much more effort by other countries who could have greater effect.
