SINCE the article appeared in The Press about lost charity funds, I have spoken to several people who have had similar experiences.
They named names but I am not able to put these names to this letter.
Five were funeral companies and another was a vicar who informed a family he had taken ten per cent of the takings even though he had been paid £200 for the church service.
I am informed this was not a legal act. I would like to add there are honest funeral companies.
All charities receiving donations will send out a letter of thanks to the family and if a letter has not been received you must ask why this is.
My advice to families would be for a relative to stand next to the plate until the last person has given, then the proceeds can be removed by that relative and not left for a funeral director or reverend to remove.
This then ends all cash allegedly lost.

... Rymer good to us
AFTER reading your article in last Friday’s edition of The Press about J Rymer funeral directors, I would like to say that recently they conducted a funeral for my family. We found them extremely helpful, professional and sympathetic.
I can only talk from experience but I would like to say that our family would not hesitate to use them again in the future.
