SIMON Dyson made an impressive start to the Hero Honda Open in India.
The two-time European Tour winner, who has gone east to strengthen his placing on the Asian Tour circuit, ended the first day at the New Delhi Golf Club in joint seventh place after a four-under-par 68 - two shots adrift of co-leaders Vijay Kumar and Scotland's Simon Dunn.
Starting his opening round on the tenth hole, North Yorkshire's Dyson put in a flawless nine holes to be three-under at the turn after birdies on the 11th, 14th and 16th holes.
He then came in with a birdie on the first hole as he started the inward nine, only to bogey the next.
However, the 28-year-old Dyson was back among the pace-setters with an eagle on the par-five eighth, but unfortunately he finished his round with a dropped shot on the ninth hole.
