YOUNG anglers will get their chance to shine despite the cancellation of the York & District Amalgamation of Anglers’ Junior Championships.
The Junior Championships, scheduled for the New Walk section of the River Ouse, were thwarted by flooding last Friday.
But there will be another junior match on Friday, July 13 as part of York’s Festival of the Rivers.
The match will be held at New Walk from 6pm to 9pm after a draw at Blue Bridge at 5pm.
The amalgamation will hold a committee match at Laybourne Lakes’ Marley Pool on Sunday. The match will be fished from 10am to 3pm on pegs one to 11 and 37 to 51.
Pleasure anglers will have access to pegs 14 to 36 all day and the match pegs after the match has weighed in.
