Financial experts have dusted off their trainers and will be donning their running gear once again in York's fourth annual Jane Tomlinson Run For All event.
The team of five from the Yorkshire Building Society’s branch on Feasegate will be running in the race for the second year with the name ‘Finance Fitties’ – and are hoping to raise money for the RNLI.
The five women – Rosie Brierle, Hannah Turney, Sally Tomlinson, Dawn Bidgood and Tori Morrall – will even wear sailor outfits as a nod to their charity of choice.
Last year the team raised more than £500 and are hoping with the support of their customers, family and friends they can beat that when they take part in the August 5 ten kilometre event with an estimated 6,000 fellow runners. The RNLI is the Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation's charity of the year for 2012.
Hannah Turney, Finance Fitties team leader, said: ‘‘We had such a great response last year that we felt this year was a great opportunity for us to do our part to raise money for the RNLI.
‘‘We're even going to dress as sailors for the run, going all out with the nautical theme. I hope we can raise lots of support from our customers and members of the public for this excellent charity that work tirelessly across the country, day and night to keep us safe.’’ To support the Finance Fitties visit the branch for a sponsorship form or to make a donation. All proceeds will contribute to the total raised by Yorkshire Building Society staff throughout the year for the RNLI.
The Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation are also making a contribution to the fundraising total at the end of the year that will help the RNLI train more of their lifesaving volunteers.
The Jane Tomlinson run, which raises money for The Jane Tomlinson Appeal, the Martin House Hospice and Macmillan Cancer, along with new partner charities, St Leonard's Hospice and Bone Cancer Research Trust, has raised more than £500,000 for good causes to date.
