THE owners of a Union flag found discarded in York are being asked to contact police so it can be returned to them.
The flag was attached to a pole about eight feet long. It was handed in to officers after being found at Heworth Green by a member of the public. North Yorkshire Police said it may belong to an organisation.
A North Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “The design has been sewn rather than printed and we would like to reunite it with its owners.”
The flag is being kept in the force’s property store and anybody who believes it may belong to them should phone York Police on 101.
