THE mother of a 12-year-old boy found dead at his North Yorkshire home has asked for people to stop speculating about his death.

Jordan Marcus Green, a Year Seven pupil at Harrogate High School, was pronounced dead by paramedics at his home in Duncan Street at 9.20am on Wednesday.

In a statement issued by North Yorkshire Police, Heidi Green, Jordan’s mother, said inappropriate comments about Jordan had been made on Facebook and online tribute pages set up in tribute to her son had been used as a forum for encouraging violence.

She said: “The last few days have been very difficult for those closest to Jordan.

“The situation has been made more difficult by inappropriate comments being made on Facebook and some mis-reporting of what actually happened by the national media.

“Seeing tribute pages to Jordan being used as a forum for encouraging violence has also been very upsetting. Inaccurate stories in some sections of the media has only created confusion.

“The fact is, nobody just now understands why Jordan did what he did and we very much want the police and the local authorities to pursue their investigations to find out.

“We would like to thank all of Jordan's friends who have said such nice words and to the close family friends who are helping us through this.

“At this time we do not wish to make any further comment until after the outcome of the inquest.”
