YORK and North Yorkshire businesses are vying for awards at Welcome to Yorkshire’s White Rose Awards 2012.
Eighteen of the 89 finalists across 15 categories including hotels, pubs, restaurants, individuals and events, were from York, with 52 from North Yorkshire and 16 from East Yorkshire.
Winners will be announced at a black-tie event on October 1 at the Centenary Pavilion, Elland Road, Leeds.
Independent chair of judges, Prof Colin Mellors from the University of York, said: “It is always a pleasure to see so many quality submissions and the standard meant the judges had a very difficult task in deciding who should go through as a finalist. Yorkshire has such an abundance of tourism gems, and those who made the finalist list should be incredibly proud of themselves.”
