YORK Minster has launched a Best Of British programme of events and activities for the summer.
The programme will celebrate art, music, craftsmanship and heritage within the walls and precincts of York Minster.
Events will include the showing of a voted-for British film in Dean’s Park on July 22.
From July 28 to September 15 there will be summer royal recitals taking place every Saturday, featuring a programme of royal-themed music played on the organ by York Minster’s director of music, Robert Sharpe and guest performers, including Josef Miltshitzsky.
On August 17, visitors can also enjoy a concert by folk band The Unthanks and national brass band champions the Rastrick Brass Band. The “8 Wonders” tours of York Minster every Saturday at 2.30pm will show how the number eight has influenced the design and layout of the building, from carvings to stained glass.
