A NATIONAL drive aimed at fostering closer links between the UK and Canada has been showcased in York.
Dennis Delderfield, national chairman of New Britain – a group whose aims include building stronger friendships with other Common-wealth nations – visited the city on Sunday to highlight its initiative on Canada Day, the country’s own national celebration.
He met the Lord Mayor of York, Coun Keith Hyman, and the Lady Mayoress, Karen Hyman at the city’s Guildhall to discuss New Britain’s activities.
Mr Delderfield said he chose York for his visit because of its status as the UK’s second city behind London, where he is based.
