A NEW governor has taken over the reins of 80 rotary clubs across Yorkshire.
Keith Davison, a long-standing member, took on the role from past governor Willie Clark who handed him the chain of office at the Rotary Club Ball, held at York Racecourse last month.
Colin Perrott, a member of the York Ainsty Rotary Club, said: “The event was to celebrate a new rotary year and to mark the end of Willie Clark’s year as governor of Rotary in Yorkshire and the start of Keith Davison’s year as district governor.
“Rotary in Yorkshire has 80 clubs which has a total of 2,500 members and is in the heart of the community.”
There are three rotary clubs in York; the York Ainsty which meets at the Fairfield Manor hotel on Mondays from 6.30pm, the York Viking which meets at the Churchill pub in York on Tuesdays from 7.30pm and the York Rotary Club which meets every Friday, at noon, also at the Churchill.
This weekend will see spectators and supporters line the banks of the River Ouse for York’s annual Dragon Boat Challenge – which is organised by York Rotary – and benefits many good causes.
