LEADERS Dunnington beat York in division one of the Fulford Ladies Invitation Tennis League.
Lindsey Jordan and Charlotte Mitchell won 23 games and that was matched by Karen Mitchell and Alex Bolam in the 67-41 victory. Poppleton’s Belinda and Rebecca Turnbull collected 31 games to help their team to a 68-40 win over Pocklington. York 2 beat an understrength Appleton Roebuck, with each couple scoring 30 or more games in a 94-14 rout. Boston Spa, bidding for a place in the top division next season, beat Knaresborough 63-45.
Lesley Bowling and Lorraine Pearey top-scored with 28 games. Riccall could not beat Starbuck’s Christine Nodding and Diana Lang, but they won a close match 56-52 against Starbeck. Dunnington number ones Denise Bolam and Suzie Booth collected 27 games in a 70-38 win over Heworth.
Cliffe had a 58-50 win against Fulford with Viv Williamson and Liz Boville top scoring. Sarah Richards and Liz Paxman won 22 games for Fulford. Sheriff Hutton’s in-form duo Pauline Hull and Andrea Pitman were unbeaten in a 73-35 defeat by Rufforth. Dunnington beat David Lloyd 65-43.
