CAPTAIN Doreen Johnstone starred for Slipper in a 9-2 defeat against Cueball ‘B’ in York John Smith’s Ladies Darts League division one.
Johnstone checked out 157 with treble 19, treble and double 20 for a 24-dart leg in her singles and then joined forces with Trish Law in the pairs to win Slipper’s only other point.
Captain Tracey Farmeary hit a maximum for Cueball.
Chris Hayward and Faye Hawksby hit the tons for Cueball ‘A’, but visitors Tramways were not to be outdone as Jo Hodges and Carole Layne top-scored in their 6-3 win.
Anne Bass and Michelle Britton gave Lions a great start at Walnut, whose Carol Perrett and Clair Cooper pulled Tree level.
Their joy was short-lived as Jill Reed started Lions’ roar and they won the remaining legs for a 7-2 victory.
Mavis Barker and Chris Hedley were Flag’s last-gasp match-winners at Clifton, whose Lynn Richford top-scored.
Division two front-runners Castle Howard Ox ‘A’ showed their true form and were denied a clean sheet by Acomb ‘B’ pair Mary Thomas and Kerry MacDonald.
Tracy Green and Paula Allen paired up to secure victory by the smallest margin for Castle Howard Ox ‘B’ at Edinburgh.
Acomb ‘A’ put in a good all round team performance, beating visitors Leeman ‘B’ 6-3.
Severus ‘A’ won their first match of the season at Dick Turpin, last pairing Sheila Elliott and Mavis Gallimore snatching victory.
Division three leaders Severus ‘B’ were shunted by visitors Shoulder ‘B’, whose Lynn Humble and Joyce Kane secured victory by the meanest margin.
Charlotte and Debbie Witts, Denise Pittock and Janet Nelson gave Leeman ‘A’ a good base before Brenda Dawe and Angela Lancaster replied for Jubilee.
However, the revival was short-lived as Nelson and Charlotte Witts sealed victory.
Sun and Woolpack were all-square entering the pairs, which saw ’Pack clear the deck to take home a fine 6-3 result.
Burton Club captain Linda Embleton was joined by Jean Wright in the match-winning pairs after they were 3-3 with Shepherd ‘A’ in the singles.
Shepherd ‘B’ were also level with visitors Shoulder ‘A’ entering the pairs.
Sheridan Kilner and Kerry Humble nudged the club side in front, Dawn Scott and Nikki Riley set up the decider, and then Sonya Love and Janine Cartwright sealed victory for Shep.
