It has been stated that York Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is to merge with the Scarbourgh NHS Trust; fine.
More than 2,000 staff at Scarborough will transfer to the York NHS trust; fine.
It is understood that the Scarborough trust is thousands of pounds in debt, as I believe the York trust is.
So what happens now to both trusts? Does the York trust have to look after all the debts added together or what? To get rid of the two debts would no doubt entail a reduction in staff somewhere along the line.
One does not see why, if it comes to it, the York trust should carry the debts of Scarborough.
Hopefully this will come to a head in the distant future.
