PLANS to refurbish the White Swan Hotel in York will go on public display later this month.

The Graham Family trust, which owns the building in Piccadilly, wants to create 14 apartments on the upper floors and new shops on the ground floor, as revealed by The Press earlier this year.

The firm had intiially considered knocking down the building, which dates back to 1912 but has been empty for almost 30 years, but it amended its plans after a rethink sparked by public opposition.

A public exhbition showcasing the new plans will be held at the Quaker Meeting House in Friargate from 2pm to 8pm on Wednesday, July 18.

Jason Garrod from Cj2 Ltd, agent for the owners, said: “We will be consulting the public on our plans in the coming weeks before submitting a planning application to the council later this summer.”
