A 17-year-old Selby boy was seriously injured when he was hit by a car on a main road into the town.
The boy, who has not been named, was walking in Brayton Lane at about 7.35pm on Monday when the incident occurred.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said the boy suffered two broken legs in the incident, which involved a Renault Clio, a Citroen C3 and a Volkswagen Golf.
The spokesman said it appeared the boy was only hit by one vehicle, and was taken to Leeds General Infirmary by air ambulance.
The road was blocked until almost 11pm to allow recovery of the damaged vehicles. Nobody was arrested in connection with the incident.
