AN East Yorkshire farm owner must pay nearly £10,000 for a safety law breach that led to a young farm worker suffering serious injuries.
Daniel Boldan Hoggard, now 21, of Shaftesbury Avenue, Goole, fell 4.5 metres through a roof at Low Hunsley Farm in Cottingham near Beverley, puncturing a lung and kidney and breaking four ribs.
He spent a week in hospital and was off work for six weeks.
He is still receiving physiotherapy nearly a year later.
Farm owner David Adamson pleaded guilty at Beverley magistrates to failing to take the proper safeguards to protect someone working at height, and was fined £6,000, plus £3,893.90 costs incurred by the Health and Safety Executive, which brought the prosecution.
