A YORK school catering manager said she was delighted to reach the top five in a Chef Of The Year competition.
The event, organised by ISS Facility Services Education, draws school chefs from all across Britain.
Mandy James, from Park Grove Primary School, finished fourth overall after presenting the judges with paprika chicken served with cabbage parcels, leeks, carrots and new potatoes, followed by a baked caramel and apple cheesecake with caramel sauce.
Mrs James said: “The competition was really exciting and I was delighted to get into the top five. Roll on next year now.”
Jason Farrell, catering manager at Millthorpe School, was also chosen as one of the 16 finalists. Despite not reaching the top five, he was commended for best presentation.
