THE price of school meals in North Yorkshire is being frozen for the third year running.
North Yorkshire County Council has decided to hold the cost to support families during the tough economic climate, but has assured parents and children that the decision will not affect the quality of food used.
Coun Arthur Barker, the authority’s executive member for schools, said: “We understand the increasing pressure on the family purse at this time and I am delighted it is business as usual for school meals, with the price being held while maintaining the high quality of produce used.
“This is very much a tribute to all our hardworking catering staff who are continuing to ensure a quality but low-cost service.”
