A group of 12 pupils from St George’s School have been named as the winners of the fifth annual Rotary Club of York Vikings Primary School Windfall Competition.
The objective of the contest was for a select group of students from six primary schools to create a representation of something they thought would “enhance their school”.
The entry for St George’s featured a model of a school wildlife area, intended to spruce up a section of their school grounds and attract local wildlife, as well as a film used to explain the benefits of their idea.
Andrew Rogerson, of the Rotary Club, said: “It was quite outstanding.”
The school was awarded £1,000 prize money, along with 24 copies of the Usborne Colour Dictionary. The second placed school, Badger Hill Primary, received a £500 prize for itsreading and homework club space.
