WORKERS at Nestlé are to hold a straw poll on taking idustrial action over pay.
The GMB union has said that the joint trade unions representing Nestlé employees agreed to take the straw poll asking members their opinion about conducting an industrial action ballot.
The decision follows a recent ballot in which 90 per cent of the trade union membership rejected a pay offer of 2.75 per cent from the company.
The poll will begin on July 9 and will take place until July 29, with trade unions and Nestlé management scheduled to meet again on July 31.
In a letter to staff, Nestlé said there was still a gap between the company’s offer to increase pay, and the union’s expectations which has resulted in no agreement being possible by the end of the last meeting and the period until the next meeting would give everyone time to reflect on what further options may be available.
