GOOD to see growing protests in defence of our local Post Offices and other local services (Village life faces a fresh threat, Features, October 19).
Readers wanting to take constructive action may be interested in the Local Works campaign, backed by MPs of all parties and a wide range of voluntary organisations, including UNISON, which is pushing in Parliament for a Sustainable Communities Bill to put in the resources needed to save local services under threat.
Local Works can be contacted at 94 White Lion Street, London N1 9PF, tel. 020 7833 9898 or email info@localworks.org. Their website is at www.localworks.org.
Might this even be one campaign we all agree about?
Ben Drake, Branch Secretary, York City UNISON, Swinegate Court East, York.
