CYCLING enthusiasts got together for a mass ride from York to Selby to mark the opening of a national bike path conference.
About 60 volunteer Liaison Rangers, who help maintain the country's 10,000-mile national cycle network, took part in the 15-mile ride yesterday.
The group is in York for its two-day conference organised by sustainable transport charity Sustrans. The event has backing from City of York Council, the Lord Mayor of York, Coun Janet Hopton and the Sheriff of York, Richard Baldwin.
Tony Ambrose, Sustrans manager for the volunteer ranger programme, said: "This conference gives our volunteers the opportunity to come together and share ideas, which is vital in ensuring that local cycling and walking paths are kept as attractive as possible."
