New Earswick All Blacks Under-16s are making their own version of the Magnificent Seven.
The squad has no fewer than seven players in three different scholarship schemes, and 11 of the team were recently picked for North Yorkshire.
Four of those 11 went on to make the regional camp and two of those played in the regional festival, with Hull FC scholar Tom Stancliffe making it all the way through to the national preparation stage for the England Schools team.
The others in professional scholarship programmes are Luke Watling (Hull FC), Carl Fernandez (Hull KR), Steve Gardner, Adam Caddie, Nick Speck and skipper Jack Hodgson (all York City Knights).
The high-flying group are hoping to continue moving on up under the guidance of York rugby league legend Richie Hayes. The former York and Hull KR prop is leading training twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays from 6.30pm.
And to match their high ambitions, they have been kitted out in a new strip care of Corries Solicitors.
