The London 2012 Olympic Games are only days away and children at The Snaith School are celebrating already after winning £11,500 towards new sports equipment for their school in a national competition.

The Snaith School came out ahead of all other secondary schools across the UK who entered the Fairy Dishes of Best Wishes School’s Challenge. Pupils had to design a dish of best wishes to show their support for their favourite competing teams and athletes.

The Snaith School’s winning plate features the iconic London 2012 logo bordered by people holding hands.

The final winning designs were selected by Olympic athlete Paula Radcliffe, the Fairy Dishes of Best Wishes ambassador. Paula said: “The design really embodies the spirit of the Games.”

Andrew Medd, art teacher at The Snaith School, said: “This was a fantastic opportunity to let the children get creative and really feel involved in the Olympic Games this summer. We are all very excited we won the secondary school category and had the opportunity to send our best wishes to athletes. The prize fund will also help us to invest in the athletes of the future.”
