The Lord Mayor of York, Coun Keith Hyman , received a painting marking the York 800 celebrations at the Mansion House.
The painting was done as part of the art exhibition at the Copmanthorpe Carnival. The organisers were so pleased with the outcome, that they offered it to the Lord Mayor as a gift to the city in this York 800 year.
A team from the carnival – Jill Solich, Cathy Pickard, and Norma Wootten, along with the artist, Ron Plumpton – presented the painting to the Lord Mayor and Coun Sonja Crisp , City of York Council cabinet member for leisure, culture and tourism, at an informal gathering at the Mansion House on Tuesday.
