SHOPPERS in York city centre tomorrow will seen scenes from the Mystery Plays enacted in a department store’s windows.
Cast members Tony Ravenhall, Val Burgess, Bob Mallow, Amy Clow, Maisie Latto and Madeline Jones will improvise scenes featuring Adam and Eve eating the forbidden fruit, Noah and the Flood and The Last Supper inside a window at Browns in Davygate.
“We thought this would be a fun way of promoting the plays right in the heart of the city,” said a spokesman for the Plays, which are being performed daily in the Museum Gardens throughout August.
“The actors will test their improvisation skills to act out their scene and hopefully give shoppers a taste of what the plays are about.”
He said the actors would be wearing clothes from Browns’ fashion department, selected to mirror the Plays’ 1940s and 1950s setting and style.
• Adam and Eve can be seen at Browns at 11.30am, Noah at 1.30pm and The Last Supper at 3.30pm.
