RICCALL enjoyed a sporting boost when the Riccall Jubilee Sportsfield was officially opened.
The Sportsfield, in Landing Lane, aims to encourage sports for all people in the community, providing facilities for Riccall Utd FC and its junior teams, and it is hoped the sports centre will act as a base for activities including cricket and athletics over the coming months.
The project was funded by several groups, including Drax Power, the Football Foundation, Riccall Parish Council, Riccall Utd FC and the Eastern Area CEF group, and a Section 106 housing development agreement. Local fundraising events were also held for the project.
Lindsey Ryan, clerk to Riccall Parish Council, said: “The new Jubilee Sportsfield is the result of years of hard work, planning and fundraising and can now provide a great legacy for future generations of young people and families within Riccall and the surrounding areas.”
The field was opened by Selby MP Nigel Adams .
