A POOL of volunteers will help to run a community base in a North Yorkshire town when it is officially handed over to residents next month.
The team which will take charge of Northallerton-based Hambleton Forum is being asked to attend a meeting next week when members will be updated on the transfer of the facility to the community and asked to put themselves forward for volunteering roles.
Hambleton District Council is switching full operational control of the site to an organisation called The Forum (Northallerton) Ltd at the end of October. Many volunteers have already been recruited to operate its cinema, but other roles are also available.
The forum’s chairman, David Allan, said: “Board members want to develop a full volunteer rota for October so council staff can show people the ropes before the full operational handover.”
The meeting, which will be held at the forum, starts at 6pm next Tuesday.
