RECYCLING events are being held across East Yorkshire to highlight the need for residents to cut down on waste and increase their use of blue and brown bins.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council hopes the sessions will encourage people to use their blue recycling bins for paper, plastics, cans, glass and food and drink cartons, and the brown bins for garden and food waste which can be sent for composting.
An advice group will be held at Beverley Children’s Centre on October 30. Recycling officers will also being at the children’s centre in Pocklington between 1.30pm and 3pm to offer tips on saving money and reducing food waste, while there will also be an interactive cooking lesson with the children.
Further sessions will be held at the Beverley 50+ Club at St John’s Parish Church Hall between 10.30am and 11.15am on November 19, at Beverley Choices in Norwood between 1pm and 2.30pm on November 26, and at Bishop Burton village hall between 1.30pm and 3pm on November 29.
