Firefighters are battling a large forest fire
FIRE crews are currently on the scene of a large forest fire.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue say they have been at the site of a blaze in Lockton, near Pickering since about 2.55pm today (June 16) and they remain on the scene.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said: "Crews from Whitby, Goathland, Malton and Kirkbymoorside are currently in attendance at a fire within a wooded area.
"Approx 0.5 hectares (about 5,000 square metres) is still involved."
