FIVE arrests have been made following a string of burglaries in North Yorkshire.
Police have arrested the suspects over the last two days but are asking residents to be vigilant as they continue to investigate a number of burglaries reported in the last 24 hours.
The arrests relate to burglaries in Thirsk, Boroughbridge, Settle, Scarborough and in Catterick Garrison.
A 19-year-old man from the Thirsk area is due to appear at Northallerton Magistrates’ Court on February 22 after being charged with a burglary at a house in Dalton, Thirsk, in December. He also asked for other offences of theft and burglary in Islebeck, Thirsk, to be taken into consideration.
A 25-year-old Hartlepool man was arrested on suspicion of burglary in the village of Langthorpe near Boroughbridge in the early hours of today after the police were alerted by a member of the public to suspicious activity.
A 33-year-old man from Cumbria was arrested on Monday in connection with a burglary in Stainforth near Settle on October 12. He has been released on police bail.
In Scarborough, a 15-year-old male youth was arrested on Monday in connection with a burglary in Eastfield on Sunday. He has been bailed while police inquiries continue.
A 21-year-old man was arrested on Monday in connection with a burglary in Catterick Garrison on December 28, he has been released on bail. He is due to answer bail in March along with two other suspects, youths aged 16 and 17 who were previously arrested in connection with the incident.
On Tuesday there was a burglary at a flat on The Waterfront in Selby between 9am and 3pm on Tuesday when games and an Xbox were taken.
In the Whitby area, two burglaries were reported overnight on Tuesday, one at an unoccupied property in the village of Aislaby near Whitby in which tools were stolen and another at an unoccupied property in Staithes, although nothing was stolen.
