PRIVATE foster care in North Yorkshire has received a “good” rating from inspection teams.
North Yorkshire County Council is the only authority in the country so far to achieve the rating for the service, which looks after some of the region’s most vulnerable young people.
Private foster carers look after somebody else’s child for more than 28 days without being a parent or close relative. The council is responsible for checking the arrangement is suitable for the child, and the recent Ofsted inspection rated the service on its quality, effectiveness, the way it keeps children and young people safe, and leadership and management. Inspectors said it had shown “demonstrable improvement” since the previous assessment.
