ANNE McIntosh, MP for Thirsk, Malton and Filey, has raised the possible closure of Filey swimming pool in the House of Commons.
Miss McIntosh spoke before the House yesterday, criticising the plans.
She said: “Any such closure would be a hammer blow for the schoolchildren in Filey and the local residents of Filey, Hunmanby, Muston and surrounding villages.
“It is so important for a coastal community such as Filey that children learn to swim at the earliest possible stage both for safety reasons and for water sports and other recreational purposes.”
