WORK on improving footpaths and drainage on a stretch of the A64 in Ryedale will start next week.
The scheme will be taking place in the Rillington area and begins on Monday, with the work expected to last four weeks.
The Highways Agency said it would be carried out between 9.30am and 4pm, and between 8pm and 6am, outside peak traffic times.
However, Sands Lane and Pine Tree Avenue may have to be closed where they meet the A64 at times, and diversions will be put in place if necessary.
Temporary traffic lights will also be installed.
